Q: Is the board water-resistant?
A: Yes – it’s resistant to water, mould, and termites, making it ideal for use in damp or high-humidity environments.
Q: What is the fire rating of this board?
A: The Beava Backer Board has an A1 fire rating – the highest possible classification.
Q: How much does each board weigh?
A: Approximately 6.5kg per board.
Q: How many boards are in a pallet?
A: A full pallet contains 150 boards.
Q: Do the boards need priming before tiling?
A: Yes priming is required – This is somthing that is always recomended when using fibre cement boards as it improves water resitanece and also the adehsisixe of you tile adeshive or other wet mixes.
Q: Can this board be cut easily?
A: Yes – it can be cut with a standard diamond blade for a clean finish or a score and snap tool.
Q: Why use Beava Backer Boards instead of plywood or plasterboard?
A: Unlike timber or plasterboard, Beava Backer Boards won’t swell, warp, or break down when exposed to moisture, ensuring a long-lasting, stable tiled finish.
Q: How should the boards be laid – rough or flat side up?
A: Both sides can be used, but we generally recommend laying them with the smooth side facing out. This gives a neater surface to work on — especially if the boards will be painted or wallpapered, as the smooth side provides a much cleaner, more even finish.
