Description

The Beava Backer Board 1200x600x6mm is a high-density, durable board made from fibre cement, with a size of 1200mm x 600mm and a thickness of 6mm. This backer board is perfect for tiling applications, providing a strong and stable surface for your tiles, ensuring long-lasting stability. The Beava Backer Board is not a pre primed tile backer board, it is perfect for overboarding timber floor prior to tiling.

Q: What applications is it suitable for?
A: Perfect for overboarding timber floors prior to tiling, as well as bathrooms, kitchens, and other wet areas where stability and moisture resistance are important.

Q: Is the board water-resistant?
A: Yes – it’s resistant to water, mould, and termites, making it ideal for use in damp or high-humidity environments.

Q: What is the fire rating of this board?
A: The Beava Backer Board has an A1 fire rating – the highest possible classification.

Q: How much does each board weigh?
A: Approximately 6.5kg per board.

Q: How many boards are in a pallet?
A: A full pallet contains 150 boards.

Q: Do the boards need priming before tiling?
A: Yes priming is required – This is somthing that is always recomended when using fibre cement boards as it improves water resitanece and also the adehsisixe of you tile adeshive or other wet mixes.

Q: Can this board be cut easily?
A: Yes – it can be cut with a standard diamond blade for a clean finish or a score and snap tool.

Q: Why use Beava Backer Boards instead of plywood or plasterboard?
A: Unlike timber or plasterboard, Beava Backer Boards won’t swell, warp, or break down when exposed to moisture, ensuring a long-lasting, stable tiled finish.

Q: How should the boards be laid – rough or flat side up?

A: Both sides can be used, but we generally recommend laying them with the smooth side facing out. This gives a neater surface to work on — especially if the boards will be painted or wallpapered, as the smooth side provides a much cleaner, more even finish.
